Android and iOS

On Android and iOS, your login items are exported as a CSV file inside an encrypted ZIP file. The ZIP is protected with a password that you create, meaning no one can open it or access your data without that password. This keeps your passwords and logins secure during the export process.

  1. Open the ExpressKeys app for Android or iOS, and tap in the top-right.The ExpressKeys app on iOS, showing the Profile option highlighted.
  2. Scroll down to Password Manager Settings and tap Export Your Data. The Password Manager Settings in the ExpressKeys app, highlighting the "Export your Data" option.
  3. Enter your vault password and tap Verify. The Access and Recovery page in the ExpressKeys app, showing a "Verify your vault password" pop-up.
  4. Tap Export Password Data. The Export data as a CVS file page in the ExpressKeys app.
  5. Set a password for the encrypted ZIP file and tap Continue.A "Set Export Password" pop-up in the ExpressKeys app, with a highlighted "Continue" button.
  6. Select where you want to save the export.
Important: When you unzip the file using your password, the CSV file will appear as a separate document outside the ZIP. Unlike the ZIP, the CSV is not encrypted, so anyone with access to your device can potentially open it and view your passwords and logins. For security reasons, once the import is complete, delete the CSV file from your device. You can keep the encrypted ZIP file as a secure backup.

Browser extensions

In the ExpressKeys browser extensions, you can choose whether you want to download your data in an encrypted ZIP file or as a plain CSV file. The encrypted ZIP file is protected by a password you set, which keeps your logins, secure notes, and attachments safe during export. The CSV file is not protected, and anyone who might intercept it can potentially view your data.

  1. In the ExpressKeys extension, click the profile icon in the top-right.The "Profile" icon in the ExpressKeys browser extension highlighted.
  2. Select Export Your Data under Password Manager Settings. The "Export your Data" option in account settings in the ExpressKeys browser extension.
  3. Enter your vault password and click Verify. The "Verify vault password" screen in the ExpressKeys browser extension.
  4. Choose if you want to export your data as an Encrypted ZIP or CSV file. Then, select Export Password Data. The "Export Your Data" screen in the ExpressKeys browser extension, showing two options: Encypted ZIP and CSV file.
  5. If you chose a ZIP file, create a password and click CONTINUE.The "Set Export Password" pop-up in the ExpressKeys browser extension.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to save the file.
Important: Even if you download the data as an encrypted ZIP file, when you open it, the data is stored in a CSV file. This CSV is not encrypted; anyone who has access to it can view the data (such as your logins). For security reasons, you should delete the file from your device immediately after importing your data to another ExpressVPN account or password manager service.
