Change DNS settings

When the VPN is active, your phone uses ExpressVPN’s own encrypted Domain Name System (DNS) servers. Once you disconnect, your DNS settings should automatically return to their default state. If something interferes with this process, the phone might not be able to load the apps and sites you are trying to visit.

Modifying the DNS settings to use different DNS servers may help resolve the issue. To change your device’s DNS settings, follow the guide below. The exact steps may vary depending on your Android model and version.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Connections.Android Settings app, showing a highlighted "Connections" option.

    • DNS 2: Enter 208.67.220.220.The DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields in Android settings highlighted.
  8. Tap Save.IP and DNS settings on Android, with a highlighted "Save" button.
